Distinguished Guests, Esteemed Partners, Honoured Colleagues, and Neftaly Community,
Good morning.

It is with deep pride and sincere gratitude that I welcome you all to Neftaly Agriculture Day 2025 — a momentous occasion where we come together to honour not only the roots of our agricultural legacy but also the seeds of future prosperity.

As the Chancellor Officer of Neftaly, I stand here not only as a representative of leadership but as a custodian of Neftaly’s values — education, empowerment, transformation, and sustainability. Agriculture, in all its forms, is at the heart of that mission.

Today, we celebrate agriculture not as a tradition of the past, but as a frontier of innovation, economic resilience, and inclusive growth. We celebrate the farmers who feed nations, the youth who reimagine farming, the researchers who cultivate solutions, and the communities who rely on the soil beneath their feet.

Neftaly has long recognised that agriculture is not just a profession — it is a platform for development. And in 2025, we continue to build pathways for learning, training, and enterprise that allow young people, especially through our Work Integrated Learning (WIL) partnerships with institutions like the University of Johannesburg, to find their future in the field.

As Chancellor Officer, I am proud to see how our work across governance, leadership development, and institutional partnerships has enabled:

• The growth of inclusive agricultural education across urban and rural landscapes
• The expansion of skills and mentorship opportunities for aspiring agripreneurs
• The strengthening of ethical leadership in the food systems and agricultural policy space
• And the reinforcement of social responsibility and innovation as pillars of every Neftaly initiative

But our work is not done. In the face of climate uncertainty, economic volatility, and rising food insecurity, our commitment must be stronger than ever. We must continue to inspire future leaders who do not only farm the land — but lead with integrity, vision, and heart.

Let this Neftaly Agriculture Day remind us all that true leadership is about service, and true service begins with nourishing the lives of others — through food, opportunity, and dignity.

To all those who labour in agriculture — we see you, we celebrate you, and we stand with you.
To our partners, interns, and educators — your contributions are shaping the future of Africa.
And to our youth — may you never forget that your hands can build a greener, more equitable world.
